Pink Triangle

Bulgaria

毎年6月初旬の土日に開催される「カザンラク・ローズ・フェスティバル」。ブルガリアの小さな街カザンラクがダマスクローズの芳醇な香りと優しい色でいっぱいになるお祭りです。世界中に２万種はあると言われるバラの中で、最も香りが良いとされるダマスクローズは「バラの女王」とも言われ、クレオパトラがその香りをとても好きだったことでも有名です。毎年バラの咲く5月下旬から6月になると谷全体がピンク色に染まり、バラの香りに包まれます。

The annual Kazanlak Rose Festival takes place in early June in the small Bulgarian town of Kazanlak, whose streets the celebration fills with the rich fragrance and beautiful colors of the Damask rose. This variety, one of the about 20,000 types of rose found around the world, is considered the most aromatic rose in the world and is called “the Queen of Roses.” Even Cleopatra, queen of Egypt, is said to have enjoyed the fragrance of the Damask rose, which blooms in Kazanlak from late May to June, painting the entire valley outside the city in shades of pink and filling it with an enchanting scent.

ブレント・バーリン（1936年～）とポール・ケイ（1934年～）はアメリカ人の言語学者である。（中略）人種、民族、言語の異なる98種の言語を比較し、言語（文化）によって色彩語が異なること、また、その進化によって、色彩語が変化し、最終的に11種類の基本色彩語を持っていることを立証した。彼らは全ての言語で、色彩語は進化の度合いに乗じて変化していくと報告している。（中略）色彩語が8つ以上なら、紫、ピンク、橙、灰色のいずれか、あるいは、どれかを組み合わせた色がある。

The book “Basic Color Terms: Their Universality and Evolution,” by Brent Berlin and Paul Kay approaches the subject of a common evolutionary development of color categories in different languages.
they suggest that there are exactly eleven basic color categories from which all basic color terms in all languages arise. These eleven basic colors are black, white, red, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, brown, orange and grey.
As languages progress up the ladder of evolution, they gain more color words eventually reaching Stage VII, which has eight or more basic color words.
